ABC in partnership with the University of New Mexico Health Science, leads a mental health outreach program serving the New Mexico counties of Doña Ana and Otero counties in New Mexico. This collaborative effort aims to address the urgent mental health needs of individuals in these regions, ensuring they receive the necessary education and support to enhance their overall well-being.
Central to this program is the deployment of specialized mental health trained Promoters, also known as Community Health Workers (CHWs), who play a crucial role in providing one-on-one education and referral services to individuals in need. Our CHWs undergo thorough education and certification in Mental Health First Aid and crisis intervention, enabling them to identify and respond effectively to mental health crises. Through this comprehensive training, CHWs can provide stabilization and immediate support while facilitating seamless connections to appropriate mental health services, fostering healing and resilience in the face of mental health challenges.
The partnership between ABC and the University of New Mexico Health Science highlights the shared commitment of both organizations to prioritize mental health care and reduce the stigma associated with seeking help for mental health issues.
This program not only aims to address immediate mental health concerns but also seeks to make a lasting impact on the well-being of the communities it serves.
